My Story
After studying ICT Game Development at the University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam I decided to change my career direction slightly by getting into Web Development. The main reason for this was I saw more long-term learning and growth opportunities in Web Development than I saw in Game Development.
In my experience, the switch between Game Development and Web Development was almost seamless. This switch was made significantly more enjoyable by the Young Professional program I followed at Betabit at the start of my employment there.
In the 3 years at Betabit, I had grown into a full-stack developer role in agile teams for an extensive variety of projects and clients. After these three years, I decided to specialize in front-end development since I noticed I felt more excitement for its communities and its technological innovations.
To specialize in front-end development I felt like I needed to be surrounded by front-end seniority. That's why I made the big decision to leave Betabit for another consultancy: Divotion.
At Divotion I am surrounded by experienced front-end enthusiasts. We focus on serious front-end development and knowledge sharing. This is also how we provide value to customers like Booking.com, Rabobank, Port of Rotterdam, and AIVD.
Via Divotion, I've been on a Rabobank team focusing on adding sustainability features to the Rabo Business Banking platform, as a full stack development consultant. Currently, I'm in a different Rabobank team focused on migrating a Business Lending application.
I still see abundant long-term learning and growth opportunities for myself in the web development field and I'm excited about that. I can't wait to see what I'll be able to achieve in the following decades of my career.
